Studies in the Anopheline Fauna and Malaria of Bhagalpur (Bihar and Orissa)

Entomologist, Spirochetosis Transmission Enquiry Calcutta School of Tropical Mcdicinc. In October 1929, whilst on leave, I carried out a study of the anopheline fauna and malaria in Blmgalpur. The results of this investigation may be of some interest, as there is no previous detailed record of the anopheline fauna nor of the malaria of the place. Bhagalpur, the chief town and administrative headquarters of the district and division of the same name, is in the province of Bihar and Orissa, and covers an area of 11 square miles. It is situated on the right bank of the Ganges, on a broad and well-raised belt of limestone, with a superficial layer of alluvium, in 25? 15' N. and 87? 0' E. (Fig. 1).
